Volleyball Tournament Success

The Clearview girls’ teams took 2nd and 4th in the 3rd Annual tournament. Mrs. Cooper’s team played well but just ran out of steam against the Bert Bowes Grade 8 Girls team, in the final in pool A.

In Pool B, Dr. Kearney Grade 9 girls narrowly defeated the Upper Pine Grade 8 girls in an exciting match. Our boys team played in this division and they played well and got better with each game.

Thank you to the 10 teams that joined us on Thursday to play some volleyball and have some fun. We had 3 teams from Bert Bowes, 3 teams from Dr. Kearney, 3 teams from Upper Pine and a team from Freedom Thinkers. It was certainly a full house.

A big thank you to Mrs. Copes and Mrs. Webster who organized and ran the canteen for us! Thank you to those parents who were able to take a few shifts!

Thank you to Mr. MacLean, Mr. G, Miss Davis, Tanis, Parker, Morgan, and Maddie for reffing as it is not an easy job!

Thank you to Mr. MacLean, Mrs. Hiebert, and Mrs. Cooper for coaching our teams and the rest of the staff for supporting our coaches by covering their extra students. It was a real team effort!

We biked an impressive 1654km

Thank you to all those who participated in, or who helped students to participate. We had 44 students and 8 staff members participating in the bike to school/work week and we accumulated 1654km!  Between the wind, the heat, and the smoke in the air we certainly faced some challenges but many students and staff persevered and biked great distances.  Next year let’s try for 2000km.

Top Secondary riders

Chase 108km and Nick with 101

Isabel and Raelle both with 90

Top Elementary Riders

The staff and students have biked just over 997km half way through the week.  This is an impressive start!  Congratulations to Miss Kundrik who biked the 50 km to FSJ after work in the heat yesterday and to Mrs. Hartman who biked 40km yesterday. Today we had a large number of students who biked and some who have biked on all three days.  Well done! The following is a list of the students that have biked so far this week. Thank you to the parents for making this work as I am sure that it is not always convenient.

More than 500km of biking on Monday

We are off to a great start with our biking to school.  Thank you to Constable Neustaeter who came out to support our initial bike to school day.  We had 7 staff members, 23 students and 1 parent that logged just over 500km.  Some top riders were Matthew Fell who biked 60km, both Austin Clay and Jade Clay biked 56Km each and Quintin Drschiwiski biked 45km and he is only 10 years old.  Well done Clearview!  We are looking forward to logging many more kilometres this week.

Clearview’s ‘A’ Girls Team Win Tournament

Congratulations to our grade 6 girls team as they went undefeated in league and tournament play.  They played very well as a team.  Thank you to Mrs. Copes for her dedication to coaching this group of girls for the past few years.

Our grade 4/5 team also went undefeated in the ‘B’ league and won their first two games of the tournament! Well done girls, your dedication and practice certainly paid off.

Teamwork and Fun for Boys’ Volleyball

The boys finished their season with some excellent teamwork and worked hard right until the end in the district tournament.  They played well and should be proud of themselves.  Thank you to Miss Davis for taking the time to coach the boys.
